Local Area

Highland Perthshire is renowned for its breathtaking scenery and the cottage’s idyllic location makes it the ideal base from which to explore. A mile to the west the beautiful arts and crafts conservation village of Fortingall stands at the mouth of Glen Lyon, one of Scotland’s natural treasures. A few miles to the south, Kenmore, another conservation village makes the most of its waterside location at the eastern end of Loch Tay. Heading north you can find Schiehallion, Loch Tummel, with its spectacular Queen’s view, and Loch Rannoch, where the Black Forest is one of the last remaining vestiges of the ancient Caledonian forest that once covered much of northern Scotland. There are a number of historic castles nearby with Blair Castle being the best known. For anyone with an interest in Scotland’s national tipple, Dewar’s World of Whisky at Aberfeldy and the Edradour distillery in Pitlochry would make an ideal stop.
